Refineries in the South Bay, Contra Costa County and Kern County
The complexes around El Segundo, Torrance, Carson and Wilmington, at Richmond and Martinez, and near Bakersfield circulate alkylation sulfuric acid, spent acid, spent caustic and sour water. Spent acid with entrained hydrocarbons and spent caustic with sulfides attack a steel seat, so PFA lined plug valves isolate acid without a cavity to collect sludge and PFA lined ball valves take caustic and sour water transfer.
Salton Sea brine, Trona and Boron

Diaphragm valves

Plug valves
A PFA encapsulated tapered plug in a fully lined body seals fluoropolymer on fluoropolymer with low torque and no cavity, so brine solids, pickle scale and acid sludge pass through.
Check valves
Lined ball and disc checks keep hypochlorite, brine, acid and deionized water from running back through pumps, with no metal spring to corrode.
Butterfly valves

Which lined valve suits hot chloride brine in a Salton Sea lithium extraction circuit?
PFA lined plug or ball valves for isolation, because PFA resists chloride brine and sulfuric acid, and lined diaphragm valves for throttling regenerant and slurry. Brine temperature sets the limit, so send the operating temperature and solids content and we will confirm the lining and pattern.
Can lined valves be used on hydrofluoric acid and deionized water in a Silicon Valley fab?
Yes. PFA and PTFE resist hydrofluoric acid at the concentrations fabs use, though HF permeates them even at ambient temperature, so we specify heavy-wall linings and venting for HF service, and PFA lined diaphragm valves add no metal ions to deionized water. Diaphragm valves also leave no dead leg, which matters for both purity and acid safety.
