Plastic Lined Valves

Industrial-Quality Plastic Lined Valves

Nationwide distributor ofSwissfluid USA

Plastic lined valves combine the strength of a metal housing with the corrosion resistance of engineered fluoropolymers such as PFA and PTFE. PFA, like PTFE, is sold under the Teflon trade name, so a “Teflon-lined” valve is usually a PFA-lined one. The result is a flow control solution built to withstand aggressive chemicals, high temperatures and abrasive slurries, with smooth internal surfaces for low pressure drop and a long service life with minimal maintenance.

Swiss quality, domestic stock. Marspec supplies lined valves and sampling systems made by Swissfluid of Lenzburg, Switzerland, a manufacturer that specializes in lined valves for highly corrosive and abrasive service. Swissfluid USA supports its national distribution network from its facility in Stafford, Texas, so standard valves come from domestic stock rather than from Switzerland. They ship from Fairhope, Alabama, and we quote the lead time with the price. Every valve below bolts up to the same ANSI B16.5 class 150 flange pattern as our lined pipe and fittings, so the parts that have to seal against each other come from one supplier.

Call Marspec at (251) 625-4949 or request a quote if you need more specific information or would like to place an order.

Ball Valves — Swissfluid SBV

Lined ball valves combine a robust two-piece metal body with a fully encapsulated ball. The SBV's blowout-proof one-piece ball-stem assembly and metal-to-metal body joint give bubble-tight shut-off in chemical transfer lines, industrial gas systems and wastewater treatment, with quick quarter-turn on/off operation.

Cylindrical Plug Valves — Swissfluid SCP

Plastic lined plug valves use a cylindrical plug that rotates to control flow. The SCP's cavity-free design gives maximum flow with minimal pressure loss and low operating torque, and the lined interior protects against corrosive media. They are a common choice in chemical and petrochemical plants where reliable isolation is essential and space is limited.

Butterfly Valves — Swissfluid SBP & SBE

Lightweight yet strong, lined butterfly valves are designed for large-diameter flow control with quick quarter-turn operation, low pressure drop and cost-effective installation in new and retrofit systems. The SBP has a fluoropolymer liner for acids, caustics and solvents; the SBE has an elastomer liner with a solid duplex or fluoropolymer-encapsulated disc, for shut-off, flow control and throttling of corrosive and abrasive process media. Both have a blowout-proof one-piece disc-stem; the SBP a wide, chambered flange face, the SBE a corrugated one.

Diaphragm Valves — Swissfluid SDV

Plastic lined diaphragm valves are popular where precise throttling and shut-off control are required. A flexible diaphragm acts as a barrier between the process fluid and the valve components, eliminating contamination risks. The SDV is a fully lined weir-type valve for shut-off or throttling of corrosive liquids and gases. It is cavity-free, so it also suits high-purity service, it drains in any installed position, and its components are easy to replace on site.

Check Valves & Sight Glasses — Swissfluid SBC, SSC, SSP & SST

Plastic lined check valves allow fluid to flow in one direction only, protecting pumps, compressors and piping from backflow. The SBC ball check has a solid or hollow PTFE ball in glass-fiber-reinforced PTFE guides, with large sight-glass plates, for liquid process media; it typically sits ahead of a pump. The SSC swing check is a wafer valve with centering lugs and a tilted, self-retaining disc that closes by gravity even when the pipe is not quite level, with an integrated sealing lip for low differential pressures. Both install horizontally or vertically.

Sight glasses — SSP, SST, SSP-T & SST-T

A sight glass next to a check valve or on a pump discharge confirms that the line is flowing, and in which direction. The SSP has a lined cast-steel body and the SST a stainless body, each with a sight plate in a flanged housing. The tubular SSP-T and SST-T show the full stream through a glass cylinder between two flanges, for watching colour, clarity or bubbles.

Sampling Valves — Swissfluid SIV & SSB

For safe, representative sampling of process fluids, lined sampling valves keep samples away from metal surfaces and protect operators from exposure to hazardous chemicals. The SIV inline sampling valve installs directly in the pipeline or a bypass and takes a sample without interrupting the process, under pressure or vacuum. The SSB inline sampling ball valve draws a predetermined volume, even a very small one, and isolates the sample from line pressure once taken, so vacuum sampling is possible. Closed sampling uses a needle adapter into a septum-topped bottle; safety cabinets and activated-carbon filters are available for hermetic systems.

Reactor Sampling Systems — Swissfluid SRS

Mounted on top of a reactor or vessel, SRS systems draw a representative liquid sample through a PTFE or PTFE-AS lined dip pipe. The SRS-P uses the vessel's own vacuum or pressure; the SRS-P-E adds an inert-gas ejector for vessels with neither; the SRS-P-P adds an air-driven diaphragm pump to circulate the media continuously, with electrodes for pH, redox or temperature measurement that are easy to install, replace and clean. Not for boiling media; special loop systems are offered for those.

Actuators & Valve Automation

Swissfluid pneumatic actuators

Swissfluid SPA-R quarter-turn actuators mount directly on the ISO 5211 top flange of SBV, SCP, SBP and SBE valves without brackets or couplers. SPA-L stroke actuators serve the SDV diaphragm valve. Electric actuators and positioners for control duty are available; ask us to size the actuator to your supply pressure and safety factor.

Spacers & Installation

Install a ½" thick spacer, in PTFE, PVDF or polypropylene to match the liner, between plastic lined pipe or fittings and a lined valve when the diameters of the raised faces differ, and tighten to the lowest recommended torque of the components in the joint. Solid and armored spacers are listed under Spacers on the Pipe & Fittings page; torque values and the full procedure are on the Technical Details page.

Selecting a Valve

Choosing the right valve can be challenging when you are dealing with aggressive chemicals or extreme operating conditions. Our team works with you to recommend the right valve, liner and encapsulation for each service. With the full Swissfluid range available, we cover a wide spectrum of needs and help you keep your operation running safely and efficiently.
